For those of you with a blurb.com book available for sale like me ;-) Skip Hunt Vagabond: MEXICO 2009
I wasn't aware of this because I'm not signed up for the blurb.com newsletter.... but I just got word that blurb has issued discount coupon codes for several countries for $10 off blurb books orders until the end of the year!
A friend sent it to me last night, but I wanted to verify it with blurb before I started mentioning it. It's good for any book over $29.95. I think you can only use it once though. Here's a link to the info HERE
It's good for anybody and everyone's books too!

This show was up at Thunderbird Cafe in a different form. This time the display has changed into more of an "installation" using thin wooden dowels and tiny wooden clothespins.
"For this show I wanted to play around a bit and experiment with abstracts. I was curious whether or not the nature of composed abstract photographic images consisting of mostly color and texture... would still hold up when sliced and dissected into individual pieces.
I found that they did in fact hold up quite well! And in some cases, portions were even stronger than the whole.
The display was something I wanted to play around will as well, so I decided to slice up large abstracts into smaller pieces on a grid. I printed them and clipped them in a wooden grid using long wooden dowels and miniature clothespins and put the entire piece back together like an assortment of butterfly pieces making up a larger butterfly."

In 2009 from June to August, Skip Hunt traveled in Mexico on a motorcycle and blogged it all from the road.
PREVIEW & ORDERING HERE
The journey began in the sacred desert region known as Huiricuta, to major cities, strange villages that induced strange deja-vu, mountains, jungle, peyote/mushroom rituals, coastline, and amazing winding roads all throughout the Sierra Madres.
These are the images & excerpts of travel musings made on this journey.
Disfruta!
"Skip Hunt, born on the wind-swept plains of Oklahoma, is a professional photographer in Austin, Texas. He picked up a 35mm camera in the mid-1970s and has never stopped sharing his unique vision via photographic images. Many moons ago, he was bitten hard by the wanderlust beast and has been canvassing the globe ever since. Visionary artists such as Pete Turner, David Lynch, Cindy Sherman, and André Kertész set Skip's sight on a...

Hey everybody!
I'm happy to announce that I have a confirmed date and time for my next opening on Saturday, July 19th from 7-9pm. The work is already on display at Cafe Medici (11th and West Lynn) and will be until August 24th. But please come by for the opening. It's going to be even better than the last one with much easier parking, etc. There will be wine, snacks, etc. for the event and I've already confirmed a live didgeridoo player. Maybe two!
For those who attended my last showing... I reprinted a few as giclee' (different print process that yields a nice velvety look as opposed to the metallic prints I did last time)... and I printed mostly new images as well.
If you're in Austin, Texas on July 19th, please try to make it by Cafe Medici for the show. It should be great fun! And make sure you tell all your friends. :-)
I'd like to get a rough head count of who might be able to show up so that I know how much vino to get. So, please RSVP...

Exhibition March 1st through March 31st: Unique Perspectives of Skip Hunt (Photography) Opening March 7th, 7pm-9pm.
"Each Skip Hunt photograph is the synthesis of a life experienced, it is not just the reporter’s curiosity – that often dominates in photography today, linked to an event or a precise narration – but the willingness to walk next to the subjects of the photos through their worlds and let us live the feelings he absorbs and perceives."
Drogos do Brazil will be displaying the work of Skip Hunt throughout the month of March.
Please RSVP for opening by emailing Stefanie G. Ball at stef@skiphuntphotography.info
